Founded in 1959, the Institute of Molecular Biology at the University of Oregon is an interdisciplinary research community dedicated to investigating biological questions at the molecular level. Our collaborative and interactive Institute has a long and rich history of bringing together scientists from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. We gathered this autumn to celebrate 50 years of scientific inquiry and community and invited alumni and friends of the Institute to join us. The program, open to the public, featured a symposium of 17 outstanding speakers who were members of IMB as undergraduates, graduate students or post-doctoral fellows. The breadth of the program was a testament to the IMB as a training ground for scientists at all stages of their careers.
