Diversity at IMB and the University of Oregon
The Institute of Molecular Biology and the University of Oregon seek to recruit and train diverse students, including students with disabilities and underrepresented minorities. We foster an inclusive environment with the goal of providing the opportunity for all students to excel and to broaden their perspectives and experiences. A number of resources are available to help achieve these goals.

CMiS: A community for Minorities in STEM
UO Diversity Resources: The UO maintains a list of financial aid, academic and student life resources for prospective and current students, and families.
SACNAS @ UO: The UO chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science.
Graduate Student Association: The GSA is a group for all graduate students on campus to connect, share information, and work for the betterment of the graduate experience
IMPACT: IMPACT is a peer-to-peer mentoring program for first generation college students and/or students from underrepresented communities.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer Alliance: The LGBTQA Alliance’s core purpose is to create opportunities for people to celebrate, appreciate, and affirm their whole selves.
Multicultural Center: The Multicultural Center, based on the EMU student union hall, ideally aspired to be a center “where all students would be welcomed to meet, plan, and help with educating the community about diversity.”
Native American Student Union: The Native American Student Union (NASU) at the University of Oregon assists American Indian, Alaskan Natives, and Indigenous Peoples in maintaining cultural values while pursuing their educational goals.
Creating Connections: Creating Connections is where underrepresented graduate student groups can connect, engage, and partner to serve otherwise unmet needs through social gatherings and community building activities that celebrate diversity and embrace inclusivity.
Queer, Trans & Intersex Students of Color: QTISOC creates community for Queer, Trans & Intersex students of color.
UO Women’s center: The UO Women’s center works to create a safe and affirming environment for people of all genders at the University of Oregon.
Women in Graduate Science: The Women in Graduate Science organization at the University of Oregon focuses on the development of women within interdisciplinary sciences to become successful scientists.
